A STREET preacher has won his fight to have his conviction for homophobic sermons overturned.
Michael Overd's conviction for a public order offence was overturned at Taunton Crown Court today, Friday, December 11.
Judge David Ticehurst ruled that the Crown Prosecution Service had failed to provide sufficient evidence to support the conviction of born again Christian Mr Overd, aged 50, of Creech St Michael.
The judge awarded costs in favour of Mr Overd, who has regularly preached in Taunton town centre.
