LOST loved ones are being remembered this Christmas with the help of St Margaret's Hospice's Light Up a Life services.

The events are taking place across Somerset, including Taunton, Wellington and Bridgwater.

The Cooperative Funeralcare based in Taunton, has supported the popular Light Up a Life services that take place throughout Somerset over the Christmas period, with a donation of £2,000.

Claire Hart, corporate fundraiser for St. Margaret’s Hospice, said: “When you have lost someone close to you, Christmas can be a very poignant and special time for sharing memories with those you hold dear.

"Our Light up a Life Remembrance Services are an opportunity to gently reflect together, remembering family and friends who have illuminated our lives.

"It therefore seems very fitting that the Cooperative Funeralcare are supporting us again and their kind donation is greatly appreciated.”

Mark Robson, from the Cooperative Funeral home, added: “We have supported these special events for the last three years now, and select St. Margaret’s Hospice as our Charity of the Year on a bi-annual basis.

"We like to support such a local cause. Everyone in Somerset has had some dealing with St. Margaret’s Hospice and it touches the hearts of so many of us.”

"Part of the Co-op’s philosophy is to support local causes and events. In this tough economic climate, we do appreciate that charities are struggling so if companies can offer some support either financially or as goods or services in kind, or even volunteering then all well and good.”

A member of Cooperative staff will attend many of the 13 services being held.

Individuals are invited to not only to enjoy the annual services, but also to enter the name of someone cherished to you in the Book of Remembrance.

This year services are being held in Bridgwater, Burnham On Sea, Butleigh, Chard, Glastonbury, Langport, Minehead, Street, Taunton, Wellington, Wells, Wincanton, Yeovil.
