IT was a day of festive celebrations at the annual Homes in Sedgemoor residents event.

More than 300 people attended the meet and greet for fun, freebies and advice at the McMillan Theatre in Bridgwater on Saturday November 28.

The annual day was an opportunity for Homes in Sedgemoor residents to meet staff and other tenants.

In fitting with the festive spirit, children had the opportunity to meet Father Christmas as well as make their own Christmas decorations.

In addition, there was a free lunch, as well as advice and guidance from a variety of exhibitors including the Fire Service, Bridgwater and District Credit Union, Sustrans and an NHS Health Check.

A prize draw was held with prizes donated from local companies and festive singing was provided by children from the Westcan Show Choir.

Chris Moseley, Chair of Sedgemoor Tenants’ Voice, presented certificates and prizes to winners of the tenants’ annual gardening competition.

The Hugh Mackay award, given to people who help the community, was presented to John Booth, of Hilda Coles House in Bridgwater, for the hard work he has put into the communal gardens at the supported housing scheme.

Jen Barfoot, director of neighbourhoods at Homes in Sedgemoor, said: "Residents’ day this year was great.

"Santa was giving out gifts and there was something there for everyone.

"Thanks to our partner organisations, who paid for the whole event, people were able to go away from the day with a better understanding of ways in which they can make money go further and lead a healthier lifestyle."
