STUDENTS at Chilton Trinity will be paying tribute to music legend, Frank Sinatra, on what would have been his 100th birthday.

A celebration is set to take place on Wednesday December 16 with a showcase of musical talent.

The performance, titled Frankly Winter Wonders’, is being organised and promoted by the school’s year 11 BTEC music group.

Head of music, Graeme Wright, said: "The musical evening is going to be a classy affair.

"Many of our students will be unfamiliar with performing this genre of music.

"Frankly Winter Wonders presents them with a new and exciting challenge."

Frankly Winter Wonders will be raising money for SANDS (Stillbirth And Neonatal Deaths charity) and as well as the concert evening, the students will also be releasing their annual charity song, written this year by Alex Smith in year 10.

Music teacher, Nicola Helps, said: "We always plan to surprise our audience and give them an experience to remember.

"Christmas is a special time, and we are hoping to create a magical atmosphere within our school."

Previous winter concerts have raised money for The Grand Appeal (Bristol Children's Hospital) and Brainwave.

This year's charity was chosen by the students, following some sad news within the school community.

Graeme Wright added: "By choosing this charity, it shows just how close our community here at Chilton is.

"I know that the students feel passionate about raising money for SANDS, and that passion will be translated into a memorable evening."
