CHRISTMAS came early for foodies in Somerset on Saturday at a festive tasting day.

The free Yuletide event was held at Rumwell Farm Shop between Taunton and Wellington to officially kick off the countdown to Christmas.

Anne Mitchell, joint owner of the farm shop and café, said: “Our Christmas Tasting Day is an annual event and a chance for people to try a selection of tasty festive products. It was a fantastic day, so many people popped in to sample locally sourced items.

“There were samples of our delicious homemade produce including Christmas pudding, cake and mince pies and also cheeses, turkey, chutneys and stuffing.

“Some of our local suppliers also attended the event with free samples of their produce including Sheppy’s Cider, Liberty Fields Balsamic, Styles Ice Cream, Kubla Ales, Dressit Salad Dressings, House of Sarunds Chocolate and Confectionery, Furniss biscuits, Longman’s Cheese and The Chillees.

“Thank you to our suppliers and everyone who attended the event. It is great that so many people are supporting local food and drink producers.”
