The Newmarket Carnival Club based at the Morgainians Rugby Club have a range of members, aged from 16 to 68 with both men and women taking part. It all began back in the year of the drought in 1976, but the club are not a dry outfit as they meet for a drink at their headquarters in the Newmarket Hotel.

They say that every year is a good year as carnival is an enjoyable event and brings the community together.

The club said that Newmarket has had a lot of good characters who has worked hard and has made the club what it is today.

This year's entry is called 'Ohh What a Beauty' a song made famous by the Wurzels. The cart's theme is based on a Village Fete where the locals bring along very large big fruit and vegetables - hence the title.
