EFFORTS to protect homes in Taunton, Wellington and surrounding towns and villages from sewer flooding during heavy storms will be showcased in the county town on Thursday, November 5.

You can find out how Wessex Water and South West Water have strengthened the resilience of their infrastructure during a Consumer Council for Water meeting.

The watchdog meeting, at The Castle Hotel at 1pm, will hear how investment in improving surface water drainage and the sewer network by both water and sewage companies will help protect homes across the South-West.

David Heath, western region chairman for CCWater, said: “Our changing climate demands that we have a resilient sewerage and drainage network that can cope with the severe weather that has battered our region in recent years.

“That’s why we are giving residents this opportunity to hear how their water company has developed a more resilient drainage and sewerage network.”

Consumers can also voice any concerns they might have about their water and sewerage service during a slot shortly after the meeting.
