A BARRINGTON man facing allegations of disqualified driving while he was more than three times the drink drive limit has been ordered to stand trial before Somerset Magistrates.

James Matthew Burke, 44, of West End View, was brought before the court at Yeovil after being arrested by police at the weekend.

He was charged that on October 10 at Ilminster he drove a vehicle on New Road while disqualified.

He was also alleged to have driven after consuming excess alcohol when a breath test produced a reading of 109mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg of alcohol. Further charges of driving without insurance or a licence were also alleged.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all four charges and following a review of the case it was adjourned for a trial to take place on November 25.

Until then he was released on bail with conditions not to sit in the front seat of any motor vehicle, to live and sleep at his home address and observe a daily curfew.
