PROTESTORS who are opposed to the development of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley C have set up a camp outside the site.
The campaigners have timed their camp to coincide with the state visit from the president of China, Xi Jinping, and a final decision on the plant could be signed this week.
Last month Chancellor George Osborne guaranteed £2 billion of governemnt investment to secure Chinese funding for the EDF Hinkley C scheme.
The protestors, camped on a roundabout outside the site, are concerned about whether nuclear energy is the best option for the environment, as well as having concerns about the safety of the type of nuclear reactor proposed for Hinkley C and want to send a message to the Chinese government that this would be a 'bad investment'.
