PARENTS in Taunton are being given the opportunity to take their children to a series of fun, free pet workshops in October, where they can interact with and learn how to prepare our furry friends for the autumn and winter months.

Pets at Home in Taunton will be hosting its My Pet Pals Autumn Activity Club, a series of free interactive pet workshops which will educate the next generation of pet owners on how to care for pets responsibly from October 19 to 30.

The workshops will cover the adventures of a gang of small furry animal characters who will illustrate how to look after pets, such as guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs and cats who may be affected by the colder months of the year.

From finding out about the fascinating world of each pet, to learning how best to feed and clean them, children will also get the chance to interact with the small animals we have in-store.

Pets at Home team members, the majority of which are pet owners themselves, will be providing friendly expertise helping ensure kids learn everything they can while having fun.

Store manager, Sarah Kenny, says: “We are very excited about welcoming children to My Pet Pals Autumn Activity Club. It’s a great way for children to learn about the importance of responsible pet ownership, whilst having fun at the same time.

“And while some children may not have a pet they can still learn, feed and care for the pets we have in-store for free.”

After completing the workshops, each child will receive a workbook, certificate and stickers, along with a pet promise card where they make a pledge to look after any pet they have according to the five welfare needs, covering habitat, health, wellbeing, diet and behaviour.
