A bright start to day could lead to thunder and heavy rain later in Somerset, the Met Office have said.

In a summary on the Met Office, it said: "A chilly but bright start to the day. Scattered showers will develop, turning heavy and thundery in places, especially this afternoon. Cooler than yesterday, but feeling pleasant in any sunshine."

However, Chard and Ilminster could be set to avoid this bad weather, with the chance of rain set to peak at 10% around 5pm.

The maximum temperature for today will be 18°C.

Tomorrow is set to be a bit colder, with a maximum temperature of 14°C, with the Met Office predicting a peak 20% chance of rain around 2pm.

The statement on the Met Office website said: "Cloudier than today but with some sunny intervals and further scattered showers, although these will be lighter and less frequent. Feeling pleasant in any sunshine and lighter winds."
