There was a good turn-out for the annual fete organised by the Friends of Burnham Hospital in the town’s Manor Gardens.

There were lots of stalls and games as well quite a bit of entertainment for an event which seeks to raise funds for the hospital. Over the years the Friends have raised through the fete, various events, donations and legacies, nearly £2m.

The money goes towards buying equipment, as well some major investments into its structure that has included the conservatory, the purchase and refurbishment of the Peter Holmes Annexe and the ophthalmic suite.

Despite a damp start the fete went well with a large attendance of families and visitors – especially as the weather improved through the day.

It was well supported by some of the town’s organisations including the Lions, the Inner Wheel, the British Red Cross, the Fibromyalgia Support Somerset Group, MacMillan Support, and the RNLI.

Some of the most popular attractions were for children which featured a bouncy castle, slides, and rides and football along with ice creams, candy floss, burgers, teas and cakes.
