THE Valido String Quartet with players from Portugal, New Zealand, Canada and South Somerset will be providing an Afternoon of Classics at All Saints Church in Merriott later this month.

This will be the third successive year the Valido String Quartet has performed in Merriott with this year’s concert all set for Sunday, August 23, 2015.

The quartet has recently performed at the Young Virtuosi Festival of Music in the Valley of the Cougain in Southern France.

Valido will perform another exciting programme including Mozart – String Quartet No.19 “Dissonance”, Piazzolla – Four for Tango, and Beethoven String Quartet Op. 59 “Rasumovsky”.

The players, who originally met and played together at the Southbank Sinfonia, now play as individuals performing with the leading orchestras throughout the UK, including The Philharmonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, RPO and The Halle.

The afternoon concert in Merriott will start with refreshments at 2.30pm in the grounds of the 15th century church prior to the concert at 3pm. Tickets are £7 with under-18s free.

Profits from the concert will be for the Church Fabric Repair Fund. Tickets can be reserved via contacting 01460-76360 or bought from Osborne Store of Merriott or Crewkerne Tourist Centre.
