A HIGHBRIDGE man was more than three times over the legal drink/drive limit when he drove his car away from the Globe Inn following an argument, Taunton Magistrates Court heard on Monday.
The court heard that Martin Lee Smith, of North Avenue, was seen by a witness throwing the contents of a pint glass into a hedge before struggling to get in his Volvo car.
The same witness said that as Smith attempted to turn into John Street his car collided with a parked Ford Transit van.
Smith was later interviewed by police at his home where he made a full admission of guilt.
The court heard that Smith, 32, suffered from depression and turned to drink as a way of dealing with it. Sentence was deferred until August 20 to allow time for a probation report to be prepared.
