TO celebrate the 20th anniversary of the National Cycle Network this year, a 'Ride to the Sun' fun bike ride has been organised for Sunday, July 19.

From two starting points, the Coal Orchard car park in Taunton and YMCA in Bridgwater, the ‘Go Explore with Sustrans’ fun bike ride is along flat terrain and allows cyclists to ride non-competitively and enjoy the scenery around them.

The ride follows the Planets Trail to the Sun mid-point at Maunsel Lock, which runs along National Cycle Network Three. The overall distance is 14 miles.

There is a quiz sheet to be completed relating to the Space Walk along the ride and a small prize will be awarded to the winner.

There are picnic facilities on site and a stop at the cafe at lunchtime will give riders a break afterwards.

The event runs from 10.30am to 3pm. For further information contact the Sustrams team at events@sustrans.org.uk
