BRIDGWATER has two thousand reasons to smile this week after organisers of the first ever Big Bash say it “surpassed” all their expectations.
Several thousand people attended the event, watching bands performed at either side of a packed Castle Street while stalls selling everything from local produce to arts and crafts lined the pavements.
The Arts Centre was crammed with a variety of workshops including dance, drums and even a comedy fun-athon.
Kate Goodale, artistic manager of the Arts Centre, said planning was already under way for a similar event next year.
“All the feedback has been very positive and very encouraging,” she smiled.
“Many people said the Big Bash was something the town really needed while others claimed it was the best event they have attended.
“There was something for everyone from children to families and even a 90-year-old lady I spoke to."
Look out for a big picture special in next week's Bridgwater Mercury.
