Both Burnham RNLI lifeboats were called out on Friday after a report of swimmers in trouble near the pavillion.
Burnham-on-Sea RNLI volunteers were paged at 8:26pm following swimmers reported in the water on the left hand side of Burnham Pavilion, and thought to be in difficulties.
Milford Haven Coastguard control decisded to request RNLI assistance and the D class lifeboat Puffin was speedily launched, whilst the station Atlantic 75, Staines Whitfield , stood bye on Burnham jetty.
The crew of Puffin searched close to the beach, and further out, with no success and the Coastguard decided that it was a false alarm with good intention, and stood the RNLI volunteers down.
Puffin was recovered, and both lifeboats returned to the station for wash down and preparation for the next launch.
