AN anonymous donation of £27.50 in 5p coins was among almost £2,700 collected by cancer charity Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE) last week.

Other 5p collections for the County Gazette-backed SURE, which helps equip the Beacon Centre at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital, included £6.60 from the New Horizon Singers and £5.40 from Richard Young, of Taunton.

There was also £406.20 from a two-day collection at Morrisons, in Glastonbury; while collection pots realised £19.91 at Honey's Hairdressers, Galmington; £7.11 from the Merry Monk, Monkton Heathfield; £15.05 from Bishop's Hull Constitutional Club; £40.52 from the One Stop Shop, Galmington; £40.33 from Tesco Express, Comeytrowe; and £71.20 from the EJ Teare Newsagents, Wellington, who also collected £18.25 in 5ps.

Phyllils Batchelor made a £100 donation in thanks for the love and care she has recently received, while there was £35.00, mostly in 5ps, from Joyce Setter and friends, and £250 from Rob Birch and friends, of Baltonborough, from various fundraising activities.

There was £40, including £30 in 5ps, from Norman Tomkies, of Street, and £1,500 from the New Horizon Singers was presented to SURE at their concert and £93.50 in 5ps came from the Beacon Centre.

This week's total of £2676.87 takes the total raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette to £538697.87.
