THE Bishop of Bath and Wells, the Rt Revd Peter Hancock paid a visit to the Longforth Farm development in Wellington recently.

Bishop Peter held a meeting with local councillors before taking a tour of the development.

When complete, Longforth Farm will comprise 503 houses, a new primary school, an allotment site, a 3.16 hectare area reserved for native planting, and 2.2 hectares of playing fields, including changing facilities.

The Bishop's visit was part of a day-long trip to Wellington, during which he met schoolchildren, parents, councillors and businessmen.

He said: “I was hugely encouraged by my visit to Wellington.

"The day was all about listening to the local community, experiencing what makes it tick, getting a feel for the challenges residents face and how the local church team is helping - or could help - to meet those challenges.

“It was also very interesting to see how Longforth Farm is progressing and to learn more about how the development integrates into its surroundings and the anticipated benefits to the local area.”
