A web design and development agency in Taunton is continuing to expand its apprenticeship programme.

Evosite says it is preparing for the digital industry’s future in Somerset and now has four apprentices in its team as it paves the way for future group.

The company won a 2015 Somerset Apprenticeships Award for the Best New Employer category in March.

It has a number of major clients including property website Your Move and fashion retailer Laura Ashley.

And now it has announced its plan to nurture ‘home-grown’ talent by supporting colleges and apprenticeship programmes in and around Taunton and the wider Somerset area.

James Shakespeare, co-founder and managing director of Evosite, said: “As a proud Taunton company, we are committed to nurturing and developing new talent on our home turf.

“By doing so, we help to create a virtuous circle; young people can fulfil their career ambitions in their locality.

“Meanwhile employers will be attracted to the area to tap into this growing talent pool, creating further employment opportunities.”

All Evosite’s apprentices are taken on with the intention of being taken on as a full-time employee with the agency after their training.

Apprentices learn with the agency on site and spend one day per week at Richard Huish Business School.

Evosite said it was keen to take on more apprentices in partnership with colleges from across the region because of the contribution they have made to the business to date.

Mandy Bridge, business development adviser at Richard Huish, added: “We work closely with Evosite to recruit people with the right aptitude in the first place.

“The support and mentoring they then get from James’s team is exceptional.

“This was a big factor in the company winning the Somerset Apprenticeship Award.

“The opportunity to gain experience working with a forward-thinking business like this is invaluable.”
