OVER £2,000 was raised for Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE) last week.
Among the donations to the charity, which hel;ps buy equipment for the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital, was £550 from Burnham and District Model Railway Club by selling models of the Wincanton Brewery wagon.
There was also £600 from Hatch Amateur Theatre Society from the proceeds of their spring production, and £200 from Frank Jarvis, of Taunton.
Collection pots realised £2.46 at Vine Cottage Podiatry Services, Burnham; £13.51 from the Somerset and Dorset Pub, in Burnham; £15.86 at the TA8 Bistro, Burnham; £73.73 at the Half Moon, Stoke St Mary.
David Jones made a £10 donation; £30 came from the Chard Skittles Team, who were runners up in the Chard Town Skittles League; Legionnaires, of Alcombe, handed over £280 from a raffle and annual darts competition for the Annette Gregory Cup.
There was £104 from Joanne McNulty, of Chard, in lieu of presents at an anniversary do and a collection box. She also collected £4.80 in 5p coins.
A total of £157 was raised at a quiz night at The Gallery, in Chard and the collection from the Beacon Centre was £107.65, including £100.05 in 5ps.
This week’s total of £2,149.01 means £532,393.05 has been raised since SURE linked up with the County Gazette.
