SEDGEMOOR District Council manages public-owned parks and open spaces across the district, including providing benching and seating areas within those parks.

In recent years they have started to receive an increasing number of enquiries about ‘adoption’ of benches as a long-lasting way to commemorate a loved-one.

Memorial seats can be placed in most of the parks and open spaces and all information and fees are is available at online: http://www.sedgemoor.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=9392 or by calling the Parks team on 01278 435435.

Some benches can also celebrate important occasions and events such as gold wedding anniversaries or special birthdays. We can provide new wooden or modern recycled plastic seats with your personal message attached on a stainless steel plaque.

Alternatively, existing benches can be ‘adopted’, including 14 benches available within Blake Gardens, Bridgwater, three picnic benches within Apex Park, Highbridge, six timber benches within Marine Cove at Burnham-on-Sea and six cast-iron framed benches with timber slats in Manor Gardens, Burnham-on-Sea.

Please telephone the Parks Team or email community.services@sedgemoor.gov.uk for more information.
