A CHARITY football match in memory of a young man, who was killed after a night out last year, has been described as ‘a very special day’ by its organisers.

The match was played in memory of former Richard Huish student, Ross Paterson, who died in March 2014.

It was contested by a Get Home Safe XI - made up of trustees and some of Ross' family and friends - and Avon and Somerset Police, at Taunton Town FC’s Wordsworth Drive ground.

The match finished 2-0 to the Get Home Safe XI – and the charity, fronted by Ross’ aunt, Helen Evans, tweeted after the game: “A massive thank you to all the staff at Taunton Town FC for making it a very special day.

“We would like to thank Avon and Somerset Constabulary football team and Ross's friends and family on a brilliant game – and the match day officials.”

All proceeds will be going to Get Home Safe - for more information, visit gethomesafe.me.uk
