TAUNTON Flower Show returns to Vivary Park with vivid flower displays, breathtaking fire stunts, amateur competitions for all ages, stunning show gardens, fantastic music and the finest South-West food.

Special guest at the event on Friday and Saturday, August 7 and 8, is Jim Buttress, of BBC’s Allotment Challenge, who attended last week’s launch, when he encouraged Henlade Beaver Scouts and Taunton Sea Cadets juniors to plant seedlings in time for the show.

He will chair a Gardeners Question Time on the Friday.

The show will include outdoor live music on Wilton Lands with Panatical Steel Band and vintage vocalist Lianne Haynes, alongside the food hall with locally produced foods, and rural craft traders demonstrating traditional skills.

There will be arena antics from Joseph Peace Fire Stunts cycling bikes through rings of fire unscathed, the return of the sheep show, parachute games and The City of Exeter Pipes and Drums band.

A children’s activity area will provide opportunities to make pottery and try weaving as well as a fantastic view from a climbing tower and professional entertainment.

The floral marquee will host the professional flower displays, with exhibitors competing for prizes.

Saturday afternoon sees the traditional plant sell off, when the displays are sold at bargain prices to visitors to take home.

Designer Gardens will take centre stage with inspirational ideas for amateurs – the range of designs in the small scale plots always creates great interest and inspires ideas for visitors’ own gardens.

The Competition Marquee attracts participants from across the community aged eight to over 80, who can register their entries in the wide range of horticultural and non-horticultural classes up until the Monday before the show – full details and application form are on line at www.tauntonfs.co.uk Full information and opportunities to buy advance tickets, including becoming a member of Taunton Flower Show for the 2015 event, can be found on the website.
