FOOD fans will be in their element this Saturday when the stalls open at the sixth Burnham Food and Drink Festival.

This time there will be over 90 traders offering many cuisines from around the world such as Thai, Japanese, Indian dosa, Caribbean jerk chicken, American BBQ and Italian stone-baked pizzas to Somerset bacon rolls, pies, cheeses and bread.

The festival team even cater for four-legged friends with dog friendly venues and a dog treat stall right outside the vets on College Street.

The event will also have entertainment for the youngsters too with animals, tractors and games to get involved in.

Food fest founder Bev Milner Simmons said: “We are really pleased to have expanded the range of entertainment for our younger visitors, in addition to the giant tractors, we have cute sheep, rides & games, welly wanging, which is also suitable for adults, an ace face painter and plenty of seating for you to take the weight off your feet and listen to the buskers.”

“We are also welcoming a Louisiana-style strolling 18-piece jazz band Big Noise Street Band, who will all over the festival from 1pm. And keep your ears tuned in for Food Fest FM broadcasting all around the festival with the latest news, some mellow tunes and competition announcements. There is even a ukulele workshop in the Methodist Church.”

The festival takes place in five indoor venues and three street markets all in the northern end of the town centre on College Street, High Street, Victoria Street and Princess Street.
