Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton still has ward closures and restrictions in place due to an outbreak of norovirus.

Everyone visiting patients at Musgrove Park Hospital is being asked to make it their responsibility to ensure they do not bring any illnesses in with them.

This means if people have had vomiting or diarrhoea within the last 48 hours they should not attend the hospital unless they urgently need care or treatment.

The following areas currently have restrictions in place due to D&V / Norovirus.

Gould / Conservators / Exmoor Fielding Bays B&C.

If you are planning to visit patients on a ward which has restrictions in place due to Norovirus please note the following:

  • Visiting is restricted to close family and friends only.
  • Use alcohol gel at the entrance on arrival.
  • To reduce spread of Norovirus, do not visit other areas in hospital after your visit.
  • Follow any other instructions given to you by staff.
  • If you do visit wards where there is Norovirus your hands must be washed thoroughly with soap and water before you leave the ward.
  • If you have any questions please contact the ward directly.

How the public can help keep reduce the risk of norovirus and other infections at Musgrove: Please do not visit the hospital if you have had any symptoms of diarrhoea or vomiting in the last two days.

If visiting in the hospital please clean your hands with the alcohol gel at the entrance to the ward or department We know that schools and nurseries can often be affected with norovirus we therefore ask at this time that children aged 11 and under (except on the children's and maternity wards) should not visit patients in the hospital unless absolutely necessary.

Please note that alcohol gel alone is not effective against Norovirus. If visiting a ward affected by norovirus hands should be washed with soap and water before leaving the ward.
