A HUGE collection of diecast vintage toys from the 1960s and 1970s kept when a Taunton shop closed are coming up for auction.

They were part of the stock at Webber’s Bike and Toy Shop and were retained by the owners when the shop closed in the 1970s.

They have remained in the family ever since and are in excellent condition, many still with the shop stickers on and in their original boxes.

The toys were sold for 50p and £1 and comprise dozens of Dinky Toys, Corgi Toys, Triang, Wrenn, Hornby, Britains and various others.

They will be sold in a variety of lots with estimates ranging from £50-£150 by Lawrences Auctioneers of Crewkerne on Friday, May 22.

Auctioneer Simon Jones said: “It is very unusual to see vintage toys in such amazing condition.

“They have been very carefully stored and some of items have never ever been opened.

“We are expecting a great deal of interest in this collection.

“It is rare to find so many in literally untouched condition and anyone born in the late 1950s and 1960s will find much to remind them of their childhood here.”
