SOMERSET Day will celebrate the day King Alfred The Great gathered the people of Somerset to march against the invading Danish army.
NORTH Petherton Church will be celebrating the first ever Somerset Day by holding a quiz evening on May 9.
The event will take place two days before Somerset Day which takes place on Monday, May 11.
The quiz will take place at the Church Rooms on Saturday, May 9, from 7.30pm and will include general knowledge questions as well as a selection of Somerset cheeses and a glass of cider for teams to enjoy.

Entry is £5 per person to cover costs.
