THE Easter weekend saw visitors flock to Burnham to enjoy the warm spring sunshine with many businesses in the town enjoying an the increase in trade.

Sun worshippers could be found enjoying the entertainment down on Burnham beach and along the Esplanade as temperatures hit 15 degrees.

The town centre also tourists hit the shops, cafes and restaurants in what some traders are describing as one of the best Easters on record.

The team at Burnham Information and Rescue (BIARS) were also kept busy with the “phone ringing off the hook” with people wanting to book a room in the town.

Ian Jefferies of BIARS said: “The town is totally weather dependant. “It was fantastic weather over Easter and it really brought the people out “Most shop keepers are saying they had a great weekend and long may it continue.

“We’re following a national trend which is seeing people stay in the UK and book up seaside towns earlier for the weekends and bank holidays.

However there is still that large percentage that do it last minute when they realise the sun will be out, which is what we saw over Easter. “Our team had such a busy weekend with people looking for places to stay which is great for Burnham.”

Businesses across Burnham reported an increase in trade over the weekend with visitors and locals taking advantage of the spring sunshine.

Lilly Wickes of the Crafty Teacup Café said: “It’s been a fantastic weekend for us. “The suns been out and we’ve been really busy – busier than last year.” “You could tell there was a mixture of locals and tourists coming in.”
