THE Bishop Fox’s Educational Foundation Charity is celebrating nearly 25 years of grant-giving to young people.

Funds are given to young people who either live or are being educated in the Borough of Taunton Deane and the anniversary was commemorated with a showcase event held in the Taunton Conference Centre at the Somerset College.

The showcase highlighted some of the talents of local young people as well as clubs giving performances and testimonies and of what they have achieved since receiving funding.

Rebecca Millard played the oboe, Claire Barnett-Jones sang, Daniel Hole, a male ballerina in training could not attend but had his story shared, aKa Dance Theatre Company gave a short performance, Ian Payne from Taunton Rowing Club spoke of the difference funding has made, the Centre of Outdoor Activities Community Hub (COACH) presented its forthcoming project, Trull Parish Youth Group students shared their story of visiting Uganda and and New Direction - Taunton Majorettes took the stage as the closing performance.

Chairman of the Bishop Fox’s Educational Foundation, Jane Barrie, said: “What a fantastic event. It is such a privilege to revisit some of the young people the fund has supported over the years.

“The evening really demonstrated the talents of our young people and watching the performances brought to the forefront why the fund is in existence.”
