PABLO Garcia is bringing a Spanish touch to Taunton’s Castle Sports Centre.
Pablo, 25, from Vitoria in the Basque region, is volunteering as a leisure assistant at the facility for three months to gain work experience of the British leisure industry as part of a European work placement scheme.
He wants to become a sports and fitness instructor in the future and perhaps a primary school teacher later on.
Castle customer service manager of the Castle Sports Centre Wayne Long said: “Pablo has very good English and a great attitude to his work, so he is fitting in well with the team here.
“1610 – (which runs the centre) - sent some of our apprentices for work experience in Spain last year so it is great we can host some Spanish exchange trainees here.”
Pablo said: “I wanted to experience life in a quiet town like Taunton and improve my English and learn more about the leisure industry.
“Everyone at the Castle Sports Centre is friendly and welcoming and I am learning a lot as the Castle offers more services that they do in Spain and I hope to soon be able to lead a fitness class.”
