TAUNTON brother and sister Joe and Bethan John got to tell David Cameron all about their thriving business.

They were among guests at a Downing Street reception hosted by the Prime Minister to celebrate the success of the Government’s Start Up Loans programme to help new companies.

The siblings used their loan to establish Decorator’s Notebook, which they run in North Somerset, sourcing handmade home accessories from Fairtrade groups, social enterprises and artisan co-operatives around the world.

Bethan said: “It was a fantastic experience for us to showcase our young business amongst other talented entrepreneurs.

“Starting a business is hard work and it was great to have the chance to celebrate what we've achieved at Number 10."

Mr Cameron said: “Small firms play a huge role in the economy and are absolutely key to delivering our long term economic plan.

“Supporting new companies as they get off the ground creates jobs and opportunities for hard working people - that’s what our Start Up Loans are all about.”
