THE “Bootnecketts” held a spring fair at St James Church to help raise money for the Royal Marine Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF).

The Royal Marines are known as Bootnecks and a group of their wives and girlfriends have joined forces to help raise money for the trust.

Team leader Stephanie Wallbank who lives in Taunton and her 11 Bootnecketts have been organising events where they live to help them raise their £10,000 target.

The events will finish with a 100 mile “yomp” from Winchester to Eastborne on May 23.

Stephanie said: “The Spring Fair went really well, we’ve already raised over £3500 and I’m confident that we’ll hit our target.

“All of us taking part have either had to go to the Trust for help or know someone who has.

“Since the marines came out of Afghanistan they aren’t in the press as much but they still need support and that’s why we want to try and raise the money.

“We’ve been out practising on the Quantocks and we have more events lined up including a Ladies Night in Taunton sometime next month.”
