OVER £2,000 was donated to the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment charity last week.

Among money raised for the County Gazette-backed SURE, which raises money to equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital, was £105.48 from the members of the Feel Good Factory, at Blackbrook, from a coffee morning and bring and buy sale.

C9ollection pots contained £34.48 at the One Stop Shop, Galmington and £32.86 at British Car Auctions, Bridgwater.

The women of the Tuesday Group, Drayton, raised £200 over 2014; there was £435 from the Fairfield Shoot Syndicate from the past season and a sweepstake; and collections of 5p coins brought in £35 from Smeatharpe WI and £56 from clients of Elaine's Beauty Room, in Hemyock.

Margaret Coombes donated £100; £40 from Coxley and District WI was raised in a raffle at a quiz evening, while the monthly collection at St Michael the Archangel Church, Galmington, added up to £539.75.

Miss Bunce handed over £9.89; there was £450 from the Harlequin Carnival Club; and £101.75 from the Beacon Centre collection, including £70, mainly in 5ps, from Blagdon Retirement Village.

This week’s total of £2,140.21 takes the amount raised since SURE linked up with the County Gazette to £512,212.74.
