Taunton horse race to commemorate Curry Mallet's role in the Magna Carta
CURRY Mallet’s role in the sealing of the Magna Carta is being remembered at Taunton Racecourse’s family day on Thursday, April 2.
The Curry Mallet Magna Carta Celebration Chase will mark the 800th anniversary of William Malet, Lord of the Manor in the village, and 24 other rebel barons signing the charter in June 1215.
The village is running a series of events to commemorate the historic event, with the Curry Mallet Magna Carta 800 committee working with the primary school, church and community to formulate plans for activities and events.
