THE wreckage of a Nissan Micra that crashed and overturned on Berrow Green a month ago should be finally removed this week.

The car has remained an eyesore at the scene since the incident happened, at around 2am on Valentine’s Day.

The 23-year-old man who was behind the wheel at the time was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and driving without insurance.

Getting the severely damaged car removed from the green has proved a major sticking point, according to Berrow Parish Council.

Council clerk Lynn Smith said it had been a “nightmare” to get the car removed because it is on private land and is uninsured.

The registered keeper of the vehicle was written to, requesting that they move the car, but nothing has been done, and the council was unable to contact them successfully.

The parish council says it has spent a great deal of time working to have the vehicle taken away by today (Thursday).

Sedgemoor District Council has been asked to help by serving a formal notice which expires today (Thursday).
