A LORRY driver from Burnham was killed when the vehicle he was driving left the M4 and overturned.
The incident happened on the westbound carriageway of the motorway near Swindon on Monday, February 23 at around 3.25am.
The lorry was carrying about 40 tonnes of cola when it crashed and rolled onto its side.
A 48-year-old man from Burnham was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been named by police.
The driver of the Gregory Distribution lorry was employed by a contractor and worked for the haulage firm on permanent basis.
In a statement, managing director John Gregory said that the company’s sympathies were with the man’s family, adding that it was “a great tragedy”.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “The driver’s family has been informed and our specialist officers are providing support.
“Officers would like to hear from anyone who was travelling between junctions 15 and 16 on the M4 and saw the collision.
“Anyone with information should call the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
“Alternatively contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.”
