LAST Monday saw some of the politicians hoping to be Bridgwater’s MP after the General Election in May come together at a hustings event.
Bridgwater and District Credit Union invited all election candidates in Bridgwater and West Somerset, including UKIP’s Stephen Fitzgerald, Julie Harvey- Smith of the Green Party, Labour candidate Mick Lerry and Liberal Democrat Theo Butt-Philip.
The incumbent Conservative MP Ian Liddell-Grainger did not attend.
Bridgwater and District Credit Union’s Alison Palmer said: “There was a lively, wide-ranging discussion on topics as diverse as health and social care, affordable housing, low incomes, energy generation, the European Union and nuclear weapons.
The debate was very well attended and there was still plenty to talk about when the event closed.”
