AN ACTION group leading the fight against the sale of legal highs brought its campaign to Bridgwater on Saturday.

The South West Action Group, better known as SWAG, began their Bridgwater battle against legal highs by speaking to residents, holding a petition and handing out leaflets at the town’s Morrison’s supermarket.

Nick Smith, one of the group’s founders, said the day had been a huge success with plenty of support for their campaign.

He said: “We had a great response on Saturday, chatting to lots of people including a very well known Taunton user of legal highs.

“There were lots of concerned people that didn’t actually know there was a legal high shop in Bridgwater.

“We spoke to one lady who was worried about her son’s addiction to something he was smoking and after hearing her description we were able to inform her that it was legal highs.

“A Taunton user came to us and said that you could no longer buy legal highs in Taunton so the users were now coming to Bridgwater.

“We are looking forward to coming back to Bridgwater again soon and we want to thank Morrison’s for allowing us to use their store.”
