A SECOND prosecution has been taken against Bridgwater residents living in Taunton Road for a breach of an abatement notice served for noise nuisance that was causing misery for neighbours.
Taunton Magistrates’ Court set a fine of £875 each for Anthony Lock and Ms Janet Stephens while both were also ordered to pay £377 costs and a victim surcharge of £20 on February 9.
The owner of the premises was given a conditional discharge but also ordered to pay £377 costs and a victim surcharge of £15.
Sedgemoor District Council was granted a confiscation order for the 19 items of equipment that were seized at the house with the assistance of police, on December 11 last year.
The Council has also prosecuted a noisy resident living at La Ciotat House in Bridgwater for breach of a noise abatement notice.
The resident was found guilty in their absence on January 19 this year.
Last Monday (February 9) Taunton Magistrates’ sentenced the resident for a further three months to an existing suspended sentence.
He was given a 12 month conditional discharge for the breach of the notice and was required to pay a contribution towards the Council’s costs.
A spokesperson for Sedgemoor District Council said: “The equipment that was confiscated will shortly be destroyed as a further deterrent to antisocial behaviour.
“This action by Sedgemoor District Council demonstrates a willingness to use its full range of enforcement powers to tackle this sort of anti-social and nuisance behaviour which can seriously affect peoples’ lives.”
