YOUNGSTERS at the Weare Academy First School have been getting in the groove and learning the rhythmic art of street jazz.
The school enjoyed a visit from dance instructor Adam, of the Education Group, to teach the children.
Head teacher Denise Mawdsley told the Weekly News: “The aim of the day was to learn rhythm from a young age to develop awareness of the body and confidence in performance.
“The children picked up the dance moves really well and all the classes were very confident.
“We are always looking for new ways to inspire our pupils to try new ways to keep fit and have fun.
“This opportunity aimed to generate an interest in dance for all our pupils.
“On the day they were completely taken with street jazz, and as a result we will be looking for more opportunities to include it in our curriculum.”
