REGULARS at one of Bridgwater’s oldest pubs are toasting the news that it’s business as usual.

The Fountain Inn (pictured), an historic ale house on West Quay, was sold just before Christmas.

But the new owners of the four-storey Grade II building say they have no plans to change the popular watering hole.

Grant Middleton said: “We know people like The Fountain as it is a traditional pub and that is the way we plan to keep it.”

Bar manager Becky Webber said: “We have a TV but it only gets switched on for things like the rugby.

“We will keep the same decor, the same menu and there will definitely be no juke box.”

The previous owners, Mr and Mrs Wyle, sold The Fountain after three years to travel around the world.

It was bought by Red Oak Capital Partners.

Nicholas Calfe, director at Christie + Co who handled the sale, said: “We are delighted to have sold The Fountain on behalf of Mr and Mrs Wyle.

“Over the last few years they have transformed the property and business, which has gone from strength to strength.”
