A SELFLESS teenager from Taunton has shaved her hair off for charity in memory of her younger sister who was killed in a road accident in 2012.

Kaycee-Ann Jeffries and her sisters Annabella and LilyMae were crossing a road in Dorset with their grandmother when they were all hit by motorbikes.

Lily-Mae, pictured right, who was five, died as a result of the accident but her big sister KayceeAnn said she wanted to do something positive in her sister’s memory.

The brave 13-year-old said: “We are a really close family and when Lily-Mae died it was so difficult for us all. “She was always happy.

I can’t remember her ever being upset and while it was hard, I really wanted to make positive memories around what happened.”

Kaycee-Ann has already raised more than £1,700 for the Southampton Friends of PICU, thanks to the generosity of her family, friends and her teachers.

She is also donating her hair to the Little Princesses Trust, which provides wigs for children who have lost their hair.

Mum Charlene said: “Kaycee-Ann is so inspiring, selfless and lovely.

A woman is a lot more confident to shave her hair off but for a 13-year-old I think she’s so brave and everyone around us has said the same.”

The family moved to Bedfordshire last year due to dad John’s job but they still have friends in Taunton.

Their eight-month-old daughter Francesca-Lily has one of her godparents here.

Charlene said it was a difficult decision choosing to have another baby but said it has really helped the family: “She has little bits of LilyMae in her which I thought would be a concern but it’s actually really lovely to see.”

Kaycee-Ann’s granddad, Gordon McCaul, who is a hairdresser in Dorset, shaved her hair for her.

Kaycee-Ann added: “Everyone at school has been so wonderful and supportive.

“Having my hair shaved off was a little overwhelming but it felt amazing.

“I am a teenage girl and I’m very conscious about my looks but I wanted to do this because it is a big sacrifice for me and I wanted to do something big for the cause.

“I wasn’t expecting to raise this much money but it’s just amazing.”
