NATIONAL campaign Time To Change is encouraging the nation to have a conversation about mental health.

The Somerset-based 1 in 4 group, which puts on events to promote Time To Change, and tackle stigma and discrimination around mental health, is planning a countywide event on February 5.

Playing on the theme of ‘five’, organisers are hosting five stands in five venues across the five districts in Somerset.

One such group in Chard – the W.A.T.C.H project – will being hosting five-minute conversations with members of the public, while a team of five people will be travelling across Somerset, aiming to reach all five points in Chard, Taunton, Bridgwater, Minehead and Street, within five hours to raise awareness.

Julie Matthews, of the W.A.T.C.H project, said: “If anyone would like to understand about mental health issues and listen to our members’ stories, please come and meet us, and help us try to break down the barriers in our local community.

“This is a hard thing to do, but everyone who attends the Chard venue to see what’s available and partake in the conversations about mental health is a step towards our goal.

“Please feel free to attend the project at Chard Young People’s Centre in Essex Close between 11am and 4pm when W.A.T.C.H members and volunteers will warmly welcome you.”
