WORK is underway on a roundabout at Washford Cross, according to an EDF spokesperson.

The B3190 has been closed for works since January 9, but passersby have been complaining that they have not seen any visible work going ahead.

The roundabout is being funded by a portion of a Community Impact Mitigation fund (CIM) given to West Somerset Council by EDF Energy as part of their nuclear power project at Hinkley C.

A spokesperson for EDF said: “The workers are currently carrying out smaller preparatory work for the roundabout.

“We assure you that work is going on there and it will become much more obvious in the next few days.”

All works on the construction of the roundabout is planned to take a total of nine months to complete and is expected to be finish around mid-July.
