A CHARITY fitness session organised to raise money for victims of ebola was “a great way to start the New Year,” according to event’s organiser.

Nearly 50 people packed into Wellington Rugby Club on January 2 to take part in the session, which was organised and overseen by instructor Christine Willcocks, who teaches in Wiveliscombe.

Over £500 was raised for two charities which are helping in the fight to beat the ebola virus in West Africa – Medecins Sans Frontieres and Doctors Without Borders.

Christine said: “It was a really nice atmosphere, and I take my hat off to the people of Wiveliscombe and anyone else who turned out for it.

“A lot of people from Wiveliscombe, Uffculme and surrounding areas attended as well as members of the public.

“Every couple of years I do a charity event, and this year I’ve chosen to raise money for the two charities which are helping to treat ebola.”
