• WINDOW cleaner Jon Richardson, 40, was off work after falling from his ladder and getting his foot impaled on a fence spike.

He avoided serious injury or worse after twisting his body at the last minute to avoid the spike going through his tummy in the accident ion Grove Gate, Staplegrove.

The authority found £40,000 to pay off £160,000-a-year chief executive Sheila Wheeler, who left by “mutual agreement” after being off work since before Christmas. Details of why she left were not revealed.
