STUDENTS from Somerset’s unique performing arts college The SPACE are all set to launch their latest festival of plays in 2015.

The SPACE company works with 16-19 year-olds who are studying dance, drama, musical and technical theatre at the college which is based next door to Taunton’s Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre.

A new set of performances has been issued for the new year, kicking off with DNA – a play written by Dennis Kelly which tells the story of a group of teenagers who do something really bad and then work together to cover it up.

Following that will be The Monster in the Hall, a stylish and touching comedy by David Grieg.

Bringing the Fest to a close will be Interchange, which explores the changes in the way we communicate – everything from Morse code to taking a ‘selfie’.

David Duthie, course director of The SPACE, said: “I am incredibly excited about this year’s SPACE Fest. It’s an opportunity for us to stage contemporary performances and explore new skills and techniques such as the aerial work in DNA.

“The company members are working flat out to ensure that the performances have the utmost professionalism and it is a joy to see them devote themselves to their passion in these projects.”

DNA is being performed on January 14 and 15, The Monster in the Hall runs on February 2 and 3, while Interchange will be staged on February 10 and 11.

All performances start at 7.30pm and tickets for each performances are available from the box office number 01823 414141 or www.tacchi-morris.com.
