A LIVING area was badly damaged by fire and smoke at Eastgate Gardens, Taunton, in the early hours of this morning, (December 22).

Three fire engines from Taunton attended the incident at 12.12am this morning, and on arrival crews confirmed fire on the third floor of the building.

Crews used one hose reel jet whilst wearing two breathing apparatus sets to investigate the property and fight the fire.

Crews later confirmed that all persons had been accounted for and had now had extinguished the fire.

They then proceeded to ventilate the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

Two adult males suffered smoke inhalation and were passed over to the Ambulance crews who were on scene.

The fire was believed to be accidental and was caused by smoking materials.

100% of the lounge, kitchen and living room area was damaged by smoke. 20% of the lounge was damaged by fire.

Crews also had a safety jet ready for fire protection and left the scene at approximately 1:45am.
