A RAP star has been helping The King Alfred School students remember complex geography topics by teaching them to create their own rap songs.

London rapper Silas Zephaniah worked with about 150 students on how to rap-to-learn complex geography projects and then got them to perform the rap songs.

Silas supported all three of the school’s Year 9 geography classes and two of the Year 10 classes on creating revision raps for the ‘Extreme Environments’ topic.

He also supported students in an AS Sociology class in a lesson about ‘identity’.

Over the day he helped students to revise their keywords as rap songs to help the topics to stick in their minds.

Head of geography Catherine Owen said: “There were some fantastic raps produced on the day.

“While the students worked on their rap songs, Silas made sure that he visited every group, discussing their work and helping them to develop their ideas.”
